Privacy Policy

WOS Assistant (“we”, “us”) is a free, fan-made companion web app for the mobile game Whiteout Survival. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is not legal advice.

Information we collect

  • Account details. When you sign up we store your email address and a securely hashed password, or — if you use single sign-on — the basic profile (name, email, avatar) shared by Google or Discord. We never see or store your OAuth password.
  • Game data you provide. If you link an in-game character, we store its Furnace ID and the public profile returned by the community player-info API. You may also save a backpack inventory, a gear/hero/pet loadout, and your calculator and planner plans, so they sync across your devices.
  • Screenshots you upload. To auto-fill your inventory or loadout, you can upload screenshots. These images are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to read the values and are not stored by us after processing.
  • Usage & technical data. We record a small number of usage events (e.g. counts of OCR scans and AI recommendations) to enforce plan limits, plus standard analytics and performance data (via Vercel) and basic device/browser information.
  • Cookies. We use cookies for your sign-in session, your language preference, and your light/dark theme. Advertising and consent cookies apply only to guests and Free-tier users (see below).

How we use your data

  • To provide the calculators, planners and account sync.
  • To generate personalized recommendations from your saved data.
  • To process subscriptions and billing (paid tiers).
  • To send notifications you opt into (e.g. push, email).
  • To show ads to guests and Free-tier users.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

AI processing

Screenshots you upload and the account data used to build recommendations are processed by Anthropic’s API to return extracted values or suggestions. Uploaded images are used only to read them and are not retained by us.

Advertising & consent

Guests and Free-tier users may see Google AdSense ads. In regions that require it, Google’s certified consent platform (Funding Choices) asks for your consent and lets you manage ad personalization. Paid tiers are ad-free.

Data retention

We keep your account and saved data while your account is active. Delete your account to remove your personal data; some records may be retained where required for legal, security or accounting reasons.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can edit or delete most data in-app, or contact us using the address below.

Children

WOS Assistant is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

International transfers & security

Our providers may process data in other countries. We rely on their safeguards for such transfers and use reasonable technical and organizational measures (including encryption in transit and hashed passwords) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
